Next weekend belongs to Wrigleyville: Clark Street Live shuts Clark from Newport Avenue to Addison Street on the 26th and 27th, 11 AM to 10 PM both days, and per the Lakeview East chamber it is the first time in roughly thirty years that stretch has closed for a full weekend. Year one is exactly the kind of thing this brief exists for, so it gets a play rather than a line. Saturday the 26th is this week's collision: Clark Street Live on the north side, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival on the south, both all day, both effectively free — pick a side of town before you leave the house. Three: the Chinese American Museum's Mid-Autumn Festival on the 26th sits in the Burnham Wildlife Corridor, about two miles north of the Midway Plaisance — it is not a jazz-festival intermission. Now what we cut, and why. The Andersonville Fall Wine Walk has failed to resolve for a third consecutive week: one source dates it September 17 at 7 PM, another September 27 from 2 to 5, and two different chamber URLs suggest these may genuinely be two events rather than one typo. We are not printing either date, and we are done spending time on it until a primary source turns up. The Hyde Park Arts and Crafts Adventure on the 24th and 25th is still resting on one source. The Carlyle Club in River North missed its own September 10 opening target and every source we checked this morning still says 'aiming for,' in future tense, which makes three straight weeks we have declined to print it. Every one of the six sources mentions it, which is also the honest problem — not one of them prints a contest time. So treat 6:30 as our suggestion, not a fact, and treat the day's stage grid on oldtownchicago.org as the actual schedule. Between contests the same closed stretch carries the craft vendors. You are not leaving the closure for any of this: the walk from the North Avenue end to the Schiller Street end is the entire itinerary, which is the argument for a street festival on a first or fifth date alike.
